In class we are learning about the civil war and south africa. We are learning about the reconstruction plans for the Confederacy and South africa. Both of them are different in their own way but still the same in others. also we are discussing the rights of the people during the reconstruction of both. Some people who didn't have rights had rights when people who had rights didn't after the war.
Today in our society we went to war not to long ago. We went to war with Iraq for certain reasons to keep our country safe from terrorists. After the U.S went to war with iraq we began to rebuild it. Just as the U.S did during the civil war we reconstructed enemy territory while so many people in that country hate the U.S. We may be taking it easy on the people that destroyed the twin towers just as we let the Confederate people join the union again by pardoning them of everything they had done.
During the reconstruction period blacks gained the right to vote but white confederates didn't. Now people in the U.S who are citizens can vote, as long as they are not convicts. All people in the convicts have to committ a felony to not be allowed to vote. Before the war only white men were allowed to vote. After the war all men were allowed to vote except for the white confederates.
Until the 19th amendment women could not vote. Since then women have gained the right to vote and now all citizens of the U.S except people who have committed a felony can. When this happened women now started serving on juries because it was there duty. (haha I said duty) Women play a big part in society now, they have jobs that hold a great signifigance. they have power to do what they want now.
the people in the south are racist due to the slavery. whites and blacks were segregated for the next few years. now people are still racist but they dont show it as much. blacks and whites have integrated and alot are friends. When they go to school they play on sports teams, join clubs and work as a group to do the best they can.

This blog concerning the effects after the civil war is great. I like how you connected the effects of US and Iraq with post civil war, as it has some similarities. It’s also weird that before the war, all white men could vote, after the war, whites and blacks could vote except for whites in the confederate. Also stating that women couldn’t even vote at the time is valuable information. If they could at the time, they would have made a big impact. Like you said, things now are much more peaceful race-wise, but there is still tension out there. Nice job
You might want to work on your capitalization and spelling, but overall it's a good blog. I like the comparison to Iraq. I agree with you that we are kind of taking it easy. It also bugs me that we are trying to build other peoples governments. It's their country, let them make the laws! It's also good that you put in which Amendment that women could vote, some people don't know that...
nice blog regarding the effects of the post civil war. i like how you connect the effects to the ones of the war on terror. This blog reminds me of the reactions of the American people on the terrorists getting special treatment while in prison. They were the ones threatening to blow up our country and yet they were getting good care in prison??? What about the American people who don't have healthcare at all?? Don't they deserve to get their health checked and get treatment?? This angers me and alot of the Americans. Does this make you angry?
Nice blog but you could use the CAPS button more often. I liked that you compared the recontruction of the South to both Iraq and South Africa. I think that the U.S had the right, to a certain extent, to take away the confederates right to vote. But if they did that only because the South shot and killed other Americans than that's is pretty unfair. Since Union soldiers where also killing other Americans. Shooting at other americans can cause you to lose your right to vote, i think.
This was an interesting blog. When you discussed about how Andrew Johnson pardoned, the confederates for all their crimes against the north. I felt he did not do the right thing because, he let them get away with crimes that they committed. As the President of the United States, he showed favoritism to his own people. Instead of equal justice to both Northerners, and Southerners. That is my view of Andrew Johnson action, of pardoning the confederates crimes.
This was a good blog. You did a good job of tying in how the effects of the war today and the effects of previous wars have affected peoples rights. It will be interesting to see how the war we are in now affects any racial issues.
I think your blog was very decent. I enjoyed how you connected our history with today. Its very important to understand the efforts of rebuilding iraq and the south. both took lots of thought and is challenging.
Good blog peacock. The slavery and apartheids were really similar and your blog made a note of that with your descriptions of each situation. I also like that you gave details on both of the topics
I liked how you compared the twin towers to the confederates joining the union. Both crimes were wrong and both parties got let off the hook. Also women are important to the society like you said, they help out just as much as men do.
